Congressman Castro exchange at House hearing with North Korean defector
Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro thanks North Korean defector Thae Yong-ho for his courage to testify, commenting, it seems very strange and unrealistic to take military action to stop its nuclear program after the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Castro discusses conflicting reports about its nuclear capabilities and ability to deliver to Japan, South Korea, or beyond, Thae answering that military officers are brainwashed to blindly follow instructions of Kim Jong-un, who thinks he can do anything as long as he has something if his life is threatened to discuss cyberspace, itÂ’s exfiltration of Sony systems and subsequent big data dump, Thae answering that North Koreans are educated in cyber from middle school ages, that China and Russia prop up its economy, but Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand are trading partners. Castro asks if the government and society crumbled whether North and South Korea could realistically unify, Thae answering they could, sharing the same language, plot and culture, calling it an easy process.
