House Considers Amendment to Reinstate BRAC Base Closures

Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke offers an amendment to the fiscal 2017 defense appropriations to allow the use of funds for a new Base Realignment and Closure BRAC round. O'Rourke says we have stressed the military, that resources are thin in that adoption of his amendment would say that the government $500 million a year being that military services all are over capacity by as much as 30 percent, but legally can serve both our service members and the taxpayer to police resources we make the most efficiently and effectively used. Subcommittee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen argues in operation that a BRAC round would but that but have local economies and that the defense authorization recently passed a further delays another round for two years. Subcommittee ranking member Peter Visclosky judge that the Congress itself and doing nothing, but the department has asked Congress to take a longer view, supporting the amendment.
