Reigning canoeing champ Joe Clarke not selected for Team GB 2020
Team GB Canoeing team leader Paul Ratcliffe talks through the reasoning behind the Joseph Clarke MBE missing out on Olympic selection for the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Joe Clarke is the reigning Olympic Champion in the canoe slalom men's K1, who made history at the 2016 Rio Games by winning GB's first gold medal in this event and Team GB's second gold medal of the Games.
Mr Ratcliffe explains that a newcomer, Bradley Forbes-Cryans was chosen over Clarke in a first-past-the-post system, weighted in the outcomes of the World Championships.
The British athletes selected for the Olympics - Liam Heath, Mallory Franklin, Adam Burgess, Kimberley Woods, Bradley Forbes-Cryans.
