Former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe attended his first hearing in a criminal trial and pleaded not guilty to charges of procedural fraud and witness tampering.
The legal proceedings aim to determine his responsibility for charges of procedural fraud, witness tampering, and bribery in criminal cases. If convicted, Uribe would become the first former Colombian president to face a criminal sentence.
Uribe, who served as Colombia's president from 2002 to 2010, began his trial last week after being accused last year of bribing witnesses to change their testimony or deny alleged links to paramilitary groups.
