'Free Britney' Supporters Rally at Lincoln Memorial in Washington
Supporters of Britney Spears rallied in Washington on Wednesday, July 14, to call for an end to the singer's conservatorship. The rally took place as the conservatorship case was back in front of a judge at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon. Jamie P. Spears was granted control over his daughter's personal and financial affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008, following a number of widely reported incidents, including Spears shaving her head and driving with her infant son on her lap. The singer appealed for an end to the conservatorship as she addressed a Los Angeles judge in a rare public testimony on June 23. Footage taken by Brendan Gutenschwager shows demonstrators holding signs, chanting, and making speeches at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on Wednesday afternoon.
