- Doctors have waited five years for adjustment in pay / the government has deliberately broken its side of the contract / general practitioners are being advised to withdraw from the NHS / they are not going on strike, they will continue to treat patients but as their o wn masters, not under contract to the government / patients will be expected to pay for their treatment / a modest BMA scale of charges / these charges are far too low to give the doctor a living / the doctors are determined the public shall suffer the least possible hardship of any kind because of their struggle with the government / old age pensioners and the really poor will be treated for nothing
