NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 25: NY State Senator Alessandra Biaggi. “Voices for Seniors”, elected officials and family members hold a press conference and candlelight vigil at Manhattan’s Foley Square for the more than 15,000 senior citizens who died in New York nursing homes on March 25, 2021. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is repeatedly blamed for the deaths. Per the press statement: “[The vigil] honors the more than 15,000 senior citizens who faced untimely deaths in nursing homes, on the anniversary of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s March 25, 2020 directive… Voices for Seniors will also release a letter calling on State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli to refer the nursing home cover-up to the State Attorney General’s office. Under state law, the only other statewide elected official besides the governor who can give the Attorney General a 'referral' to commence such an investigation is the state comptroller."
