Gene Wilder Discusses Some of His Former Female Costars
Interviewer: So you’ve worked with a lot of very funny people over the years.
Gene Wilder: Oh yeah, I’ve been fortunate. She’s the most dramatic actress, forceful dramatic actress I’ve ever worked with. I mean on stage I worked with Anne Bancroft, which was a great pleasure for me and that’s how I met Mel Brooks, and that was great. And Carol Kane is unique: funny and dramatic in her parts. Madeleine Kahn is perhaps the most gifted comic actress I’ve ever worked with but in a way different than Carol. She’s like from a slightly different planet than ours. And Christine...Christine is a brilliant emotional force, she’s just a powerhouse.
