Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald accused the government of trying to “ride roughshod over the collective opposition” and said they would be “failing the democratic process” if they did not take a firm stance on the row over opposition speaking time.Ms McDonald, Labour leader Ivana Bacik, Social Democrats deputy leader Cian O’Callaghan, Independent Ireland’s Michael Collins, and People Before Profit’s Richard Boyd Barrett spoke to the media outside Leinster House after the Dail was adjourned without appointing a taoiseach after a series of chaotic scenes.Ms McDonald accused the government of making “comments of bad faith” about the row and said the government had attempted to “ram rod through the Dail” opposition speaking time for independent TDs.
