Atlantic bluefin tuna returns to UK waters, but scientists warn this is in part due to warming seas
VOICED: Shows aerial shots Aquila fishing boat at sea on the hunt of Atlantic Bluefin Tuna in UK waters, exterior shots fishermen and scientists on board boat fishing and catching tuna to conduct measurement and tracking information for conservation efforts, interior shots fishermen being trained on how to use specialised rods in order to catch the tuna without harm, interviews with Operations Manager, CHART Jo Ford, Scientist, Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science Sophy Phillips and Recreational angler John Meyer. Government scientists say rising sea temperatures could be the reason for the return to UK waters of the world’s most expensive and sought-after fish Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, which can grow to 12 feet in length. They haven’t been seen around Britain for 60 years, but are now returning in significant numbers, especially off the coast of the South West of England. The government is now recruiting around 40 fishermen to help catch, tag and release the tuna, to track numbers, on 21st September, 2021 in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom
