Senator Schumer criticizes nastiness of Israeli government ministers in remarks on two-state solution

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York says in a rare floor speech as the highest elected leader in the United States Government to evaluate prospects for a two state solution between Israel and Palestine that there is a nastiness to what Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir believe and how they use their positions of authority and influence, an eagerness to inflame and provoke that is profoundly irresponsible and self destructive, and in his conversations with Israeli leaders, he has urged them to do more to clamp down on the unacceptable vigilante settler violence in the West Bank and has supported the Biden administration's efforts to impose consequences for extremist settler violence, but the unfortunate reality is that this violence is openly supported by Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir as long as they hold their positions of power, so no true progress will be made.
