Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker tells nominee for United States ambassador to China, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad that Beijing is not Des Moines. Corker says the relationship with China is one of the most consequential, that its relationship as a profound impact on the region, that Branstad will shape that relationship. Although we will be a difficult task on account of militarization, intellectual property theft, which he calls outright theft that has to end. Corker says discriminatory trade practices contribute to rising tension, that the United States can no longer manage that tension while China disregards international norms. Corker says short-term gains should not come at the expense of long-term interests and values of international norms, rule of law and alliances.
