A cableway linking the Yanqing Olympic Village of the Beijing Winter Olympics and various areas of the National Alpine Skiing Center has completed an acceptance check and has come into operations in Beijing, according to the skiing center on Friday. The cableway system is equipped with nine overhead cableways and two traction cableways, with a total length of 10.14 kilometers. Among them, the main lines of the cableway include the A1, A2, B1 and C tracks, which are able to carry a total of 206 cable cars over a total length of 5 km and at an elevation difference of more than 1000 meters. It will take around 30 minutes to travel from the Olympic Village to the top of Xiaohaituo mountain. The cableway system features advanced technology, a fast operational speed and it can carry a large volume of traffic. Each of the cable cars can carry up to eight people at most, while seat warmers are installed for each seat when the temperature outside is below 10 degrees Celsius. During the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, as one of the two competition venues in Yanqing zone, the skiing center will hold the downhill, super-G and giant slalom events.
