Senator Nelson in farewell account of space shuttle mission

Retiring Florida Senator Bill Nelson says in his farewell that as an astronaut his crew was let off for Christmas 1985 then to attempt a launch stopped with 31 seconds left until a mission controller noticed a cold line and computer override left 18,000 pounds of liquid oxygen had drained, had his crew launched 31 seconds later they would not have had enough fuel to orbit, causing his commander Robert Gibson to land fully loaded spacecraft on a short runway in Senegal or Spain, so the crew tried a third time.
