Republican counsel Steve Castor notes for the House Judiciary Committee at its impeachment evidentiary hearing against President Donald Trump that after Vladimir Zelensky's party took control of the Ukrainian government it passed historic reforms to fight corruption including removing parliamentary immunity, to wonder if members of Congress had immunity, Trump lifted a pause and security assistance and met with Zelensky after 55 days, very simply that evidence by Democrats in the inquiry did not support the conclusion the Trump abused his power for personal, political benefit with simply no clear evidence that he acted with malicious intent in withholding a meeting or security assistance but the Republican report articulated legitimate explanations for actions that were not nefarious as Democrats alleged.
