BBC reporter, John Tidmarsh, interviews Harry Belafonte on his involvement with the Selma to Montgomery marches and organising the Stars for Freedom rally; 24th March 1965. JT: Are you going to take part in this march tomorrow?HB: Yes. Uh, we wouldve taken part in it sooner, or wouldve, but Dr. King request that I organized as many artists as were available to come down to perform tonight and to participate tomorrow in the march, so thats why Im down here.JT: Can you tell me who youve managed to get here?HB: Uh, gee! First I think its only to say that all of who wanted to come couldnt make it but those that are here, Sammy Davis Jr, Odetta, Ossie Davis, Mr Tony Perkins, Miss Shelley Winters, Mr Leonard Bernstein many, many people.JT: Just very briefly, cause theyre trying to drag you away; what are your views of this extraordinary demonstration? What are your feelings watching this>HB: Just that, they theyre extraordinary; my views are extraordinary, my feelings are.(ANB5335S - AEXZ288W)
