Also popularly known as the flower of lent, this is a tree originally from Brazil and is medium-sized. This is a precursor species within the Atlantic Forest, especially in forests with a lot of rain, with perennial vegetation and broad leaves. It is characterized by vegetation with broad, evergreen leaves and abundant and frequent rains, dense from the Atlantic forest on the slopes. It has an axial system, for this reason it is an excellent option to be used in the afforestation of cities, as they are safe and do not damage pavements and sidewalks. During Lent's flowering season, it does not skimp on flowers, in addition to lasting a long time, it is more abundant in the months of January and April, occurring in the Lenten period of the Catholic Church. Some specimens may flower again in June and August, but to a lesser extent. Most trees of this species bloom in purple tones, but don't forget that there is a variety of pink Lenten.
