Argentinian pensioners protest President Mile, over 30 injured and two arrested

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - SEPTEMBER 4: A protest by Argentinian pensioners and piquetero organizations around the National Congress in the capital Buenos Aires ended in clashes on Wednesday, resulting in over 30 injuries and two arrests. The demonstration was held against President Javier Milei’s veto of the Pension Mobility Bill. Four police officers were injured after being doused with boiling water, while two demonstrators were taken to the hospital. Federal forces activated an anti-protest protocol to restore order and clear the streets. The piquetero organizations, led by the Polo Obrero, disregarded warnings from the Ministry of Security, headed by Patricia Bullrich, and blocked major avenues around the Congress, including Entre Rios and Rivadavia, with large columns of protesters. Federal forces deployed security lines on all fronts, intending to move demonstrators back onto the sidewalks and into the Plaza del Congreso. Locals said the unrest reflects growing social dissatisfaction with the government's pension policies and increasing tensions between the administration and people.
