Edwards if he is suggesting the Department of Energy does not need to be eliminated if it can be streamlined. Edwards says he has not been in contact with President Elect Reagan, but during the campaign Reagan did say the Department of Energy should be done away with. Edwards would like to withhold any further statement regarding the Department of Energy. Adult male reporter asks U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations nominee Jeane Kirkpatrick if she would be happy taking orders, as she once said she was an academic, rather than a politician who took orders. Kirkpatrick says she took the position as she felt it was important, she is not concerned with whether she will be happy. Adult male reporter asks Kirkpatrick what her opinions on the Camp David Accords and Israel’s statehood are. Kirkpatrick chooses to limit he response on these subjects, because the Reagan Administration’s policies are not yet fully formed. Adult male reporter asks Kirkpatrick to confirm what political party she is a part of. Kirkpatrick confirms she has always been a Democrat and will remain a democrat.
