Press conference continues for U.S. President Elect Ronald Reagan’s Cabinet nominees. Adult African American reporter (off camera) asks Secretary of Urban Housing and Development nominee Samuel Pierce a question regarding the South Bronx in New York City. Pierce says there are a number of rehabilitation projects in consideration around the U.S. including in the South Bronx, and programs are being looked at and streamlined, so people will get the best they can for the amount of money that can be given. Adult male journalist asks Secretary of Labor nominee Raymond J. Donovan if the business records for his construction company were subpoenaed by U.S. Attorney in New York in 1969 and if so, why? Donovan says his records where subpoenaed in regards to a major investigation in New Jersey concerned with political figures in the construction industry, but his company was never the target of any investigation. Adult male reporter questions Donovan on payments he made to Irving Canter in Newark, New Jersey. Donovan says he does not have details on the payments, but can get them for the press, if interested.
