Plasma cell emitting antibodies to bacteria, animation - 4K stock video
Animation of a healthy plasma cell emitting antibodies (dark blue) in response to an invading bacterium (light blue). Plasma cells are a type of white blood cell that recognise foreign proteins (antigens). When activated, the plasma cell divides and produces large amounts of antibodies to the antigen. If the plasma cells become cancerous, as in multiple myeloma, they instead release non-functional antibodies called paraproteins. This is seen in clip K012/3609
