Buchenwald Memorial Commemorates Holocaust Victims
People stand in front of the former main entrance to the Buchenwald concentration camp on January 26, 2018 near Weimar, Germany. International Holocaust Remembrance Day will commence tomorrow on January 27 when memorial events will be taking place across the globe. The Buchenwald concentration camp housed Jews, prisoners of war, homosexuals and other dissidents who worked as slave laborers in armaments and other factories in the region. An estimated 56,000 inmates died at the camp between 1937 until its liberation by the U.S. Army in 1945. (Footage by Jens Schlueter/Getty Images)
