Pennsylvania Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick says at a news conference alongside colleagues from both political parties about their bipartisan legislation to ban congressional stock trading called the Restore Trust in Congress Act that as a former FBI agent it was not a revelation to confirm what they already knew that members of Congress have access to insider information, explaining this differs from typical insider trading cases because members have a much clearer view behind the curtain of whether continuing resolutions will pass, government shutdowns will occur, or AI regulation will pass, making trading off that information both illegal and unethical.
