Paintings by some of the world's most famous artists could reveal subtle signs of brain disease...
VOICED: Paintings by some of the world's most famous artists could reveal subtle signs of brain disease. Experts have analysed the brushstrokes of painters like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Willem de Kooning - looking for changes in pattern and structure. In artists who went on to develop Parkinsons or dementia, they found minute changes - which had occured years before a formal diagnosis. Sky's Ireland Correspondent David Blevins has this report.
SHOWS: Interior close ups of paint on palette and brush on canvas; Interior interviews with Professor Ronan Reilly, Maynooth University, Dr Clare Walton, Research Communications Manager, Alzheimers Society, Kathy Barker, Portrait Artist; Interior shots of Kathy Barker painting in studio.
