CU of McGwire Former Major League Baseball first baseman Mark McGwire calls steroids "bad" during a hearing conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform about the use of steroids in the Major League. Throughout the Congressional hearing, McGwire refused to say definitively whether he had used steroids while he played. Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Curt Schilling, Jose Canseco, and five other baseball players and executives also testified under oath about the use of steroids in MLB. McGwire: "My message is that steroids is bad. Don't do 'em. It's a bad message. And I am here because of that. And I wanna tell everybody that I will do everything I can, if you allow me, to turn this into a positive. There's so much negativity said out here. We need to start talking about positive things here."
