Jilly Cooper 'puts down what happens', UK; 1984

Novelist Jilly Cooper, and husband, publisher Leo (Leonard), explain that one reason for moving from Putney in London to Gloucestershire was that acquaintances didn't like being written about in the way that Jilly had in her novels. She says, 'I'm very instinctive I think, don't you?' Leo replies, 'She just puts down what happens... and I daresay gets away with publishing quite a lot of what happens - and this is where the enemies come from, and perhaps one of the reasons why, in the end, we decided to move.'
