North Macedonian artist makes eye-catching kinetic sculptures

SKOPJE, NORTH MACEDONIA - AUGUST 25: A North Macedonian artist, Vladimir Gyorgiev, who started to work in capital Skopje seven years ago, produced 30 kinetic sculptures, mostly using metal. Inspired by the Dada art movement, kinetic sculpting involves some aspects of the movement. This can include electric motor-powered sculptures, works of art that move in response to the wind, or optical illusions that give the impression of movement. It is something more than mechanical and allows the dynamic environment to turn the sculpture into more than the sum of its parts. The production of kinetic sculptures can take from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the complexity of the work, and all parts are made by hand. Gyorgiev, 52, stated that his acquaintance with kinetic art was "love at first sight". The artist who likes the flawless appearance and mechanism of such sculptures turned performing this art into a passion. Gyorgiev added that the people appreciate and encourage him to continue his work. (Footage by Umeys Sulejman/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
