Brian Higgins contrasts foreign, domestic spending in fiscal 2018 budget

New York Congressman Brian Higgins discusses the fiscal 2018 budget plan released by the Trump administration the day before with White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. Higgins asserts trade deficit figures with China, seeking to overtake the United States as the global economic leader, contrasting with funding for a wall that all were told Mexico were paid for and billions each month for a 16 year war in Afghanistan, compared to a pathetically weak allocation for American roads and bridges. Mulvaney says investment is absolutely critical to get economic growth, private capital investment is always more efficient, the whole tax plan is designed to try and drive capital investment, the administration is fairly confident in beating the Chinese to 3% growth, there had been small growth in agriculture exports to China, a five to one return on the highway investment, Higgins asking about rebuilding roads and bridges in Afghanistan, calling for a more serious attempt to get away from building walls and build bridges in desperate need of repair.
