Congresswoman Leger Fernandez calls vote against debate rule to advance proxy vote for mothers a good day for democracy
New Mexico Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez says at a news conference by the Democratic Women's Caucus that it was a good day for mothers, democracy, and all parents as they needed Congress to look like America and needed women who could serve and care for newborn babies, celebrating the defeat of the rule that would have made that harder when Speaker Johnson tried to pull a fast one and change the rules for the discharge petition that Congresswoman Luna, Patterson, and Jacobs worked incredibly hard to get 218 signatures for, and thanked Republicans who joined Democrats in voting no on those shenanigans.
