Senator Booker begins all-night protest of Trump policies with gratitude to speak in sacred civic space
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker upon recognition to hold the Senate floor through the night says that he was grateful to rise and speak at that moment, and began by expressing tremendous love for the institution, much of which was born from the people there from the pages to the folks that worked the doors, noting that this was a special place and that many who were known there were not the ones who really kept the place functioning, and he was always aware of the weight of history when walking onto the floor and felt something really magnificent, doubting the Founders would have imagined a body with black people on both sides.
