Universal Newsreel - meeting of parliament disrupted, W Berlin; 1965

A meeting of the Bundestag at the Kongresshalle (Haus der Kulturen der Welt, House of the World's Cultures) is disrupted by traffic build-ups and low-flying planes 'buzzing' overhead. The West German parliament has met at the hall in West Berlin but access routes to the city have been shut down and the newsreader accuses East Germany (GDR) of intimidation as planes fly dangerously lowly to the ground. Includes views of barbed wire and a checkpoint, people queuing at a customs barrier, a sign reading 'YOU ARE LEAVING THE AMERICAN SECTOR' in in English, Russian, French and German, border or customs officials checking paperwork, queues of cars waiting at the border, wide exterior shot of the Kongresshalle, interior views showing the parliament meeting with large Bundesadler symbol displayed on a wall, a variety of planes flying over the hall as a cameraman tries to capture the moment.
