Elijah Cummings Attacks Witness Panel for Hearing on Administration Messaging

Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings begins his opening remarks at a hearing to inquire into messaging of the Obama Administration regarding the Iran deal by criticizing a witness called by the chairman, John Hannah, who had worked for the George W bush administration, blaming him for reams of false information about weapons of mass destruction which justified U.S. action in Iraq. Cummings associates him with Vice President Richard Cheney, convicted assistant Scooter Libby and the Valerie Plame affair. Cummings says that hearing from an expert who promoted false White House narratives at a hearing on the same, Cummings says he and itÂ’s a good choice, but wrong in depicting misrepresentation of an administration, saying Hannah wrote the manual. Cummings says the witnesses, all opponents of the Iran nuclear agreement, will push the same talking points, and contribute to the same echo chamber criticized of the Obama administration. Cummings says that in fact the hearing is exactly what it purports to condemn, partisan narrative designed to mislead the American people, which he calls the just ironic but it a critical.
