Margaret Beckett and EU Commissioner Olli Rehn press conference; ENGLAND: London: INT * * Intermittent flash photography * * Olli Rehn (EU Commissioner) as next to Margaret Beckett MP (Foreign Secretary) along into press conference Margaret Beckett MP (Foreign Secretary) press conference SOT - Can I say how delighted we all are to welcome Commissioner Rehn to London / We were talking about the opportunities as well as the challenges offered by enlargement, focusing primarily on Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria / The British Government as long championed enlargement, as a matter of principle / We think it is very much to the benefit, not only of aspirant member states, but also of existing member states, very much conducive to greater prosperity and security in Europe / We can see the extension of good standards on human rights, freedom to travel and trade / We will be working together, we need to for the environment, to fight against crime and terrorism / With regard to the individual states, we talked about Turkey in the light of the report which is due soon from the commission- I confirmed our full support for Turkey's accession / We talked about Romania and Bulgaria, we welcomed the recommendation that their accession should proceed, and we look forward to working alongside them and to even greater bilateral communication and cooperation / We, as a Government are at present considering how to manage the issue of access to the labour market here, to take into account our own labour market issues, the impact of earlier expansions
