Stockholm Arlanda Airport hit by global IT outage, flight operations disrupted

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - JULY 19, 2024: A major Microsoft IT outage affected airports, airlines, businesses, media outlets, and stock exchanges worldwide on Friday (July 19). Flight disruptions occurred at Stockholm Arlanda Airport in Sweden. Anadolu tried to reach CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity technology company. Still, the answering machine said the company "is aware of reports of crashes" and directed people to the website to report further issues. The outage also impacted stock exchange services worldwide, according to media reports. Separately, Crowdstrike President George Kurtz said on X that the company is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack, he stated, adding: The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website, the official noted. We further recommend organizations ensure theyre communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels.
