Senator King encourages lawmakers to reassert spending controls over dictates of President as rescissions package pending

Maine Senator Angus King says hours before votes to advances a rescissions package of nine billion dollars in Federal spending cuts that he hopes the debate and discussion will lead us to finally say this is a line too far, and we are going to draw a line here and establish a relationship with the president that is cooperative, collaborative, bipartisan and sharing the power that the constitution gives to each of us, because there is nothing less than the liberty of our people that is at stake, so they urge their colleagues to vote against this bill and begin a discussion in the Appropriations process as to these two elements and how they should be structured and funded rather than by the dictate of a president trying to collapse the authority in our constitution.
