Theatre: 'Love Never Dies' musical: Interview with Andrew Lloyd Webber

Theatre: 'Love Never Dies' musical: Interview with Andrew Lloyd Webber; ENGLAND: London: INT Andrew Lloyd Webber (Composer) interview SOT - I don't think this is a follow up (referring to "Love Never Dies" not being a follow-up to "Phantom of the Opera") / Story is so strong and I thought it was a fabulous plot / Whole thing is interesting and quite amusing because if the internet had existed at the time of "Les Miserables" or "Cats" I dread to think what would have happened because for "Les Miserables" all the sets were crashing into each other and eveyone thought it would be a complete catastrophe / But then it turned into one of the biggest musicals ever / And with "Phantom of the Opera" I remember one night when the chandelier went up, got halfway and we did a whole preview with the chandelier dangling half way up / If that had been on the net, I mean can you imagine? / The thing is, big musicals take time to settle down / Last Wednesday I thought this is something that is turning a corner a bit special - Who knows (whether die-hard Phantom fans will go home happy) but there have been an awful lot who have / We've done several shows and got a total standing ovation / I'm very excited / It is a musical which is out of its time because if you look at "Hairspray" or you look at "Legally Blonde" I mean, it ain't "Legally Blonde" I can tell you that / On the other hand there is a time for a musical which can genuinely move people / My personal rule is I like to see something when it is settled down / It takes time for performers to get into their own gear / The last few shows I have seen it has settled down so I wouldn't cancel your bookings for April / It is all about what the audiences make of it
