Former State Department employee Louis Dans and one of 7 former prisoners of North Korea briefs press on the loss of people in death march
SOT Louis Dens, Former State Department employee, at mike with other captives Rev. William Booth beside him and Rev. Anders Jensen and another unid detainee behind him: he talks about their experience under North Korean detention; "I am very sorry that I can't say too much until I have seen the State Dept and War Dept about the thing. Let's say that we had a terrible time throughout our internment, especially the first two years. Sorry that we lost 20 people out of a group of 57. There are 3 Americans that were not with us there, I am very sad about that. That march lasted 8 days. We had been doing a lot of walking before that. We figured that march started on Nov. 1st and ended on the 8th. We lost 2 people on the march and the other two people that we lost were as a result of the march. We had GI POWs, 99 out of total of close to 700, possibly 650 we lost on that march. I'll give out the story in detail mentioning names of the people that associated with us, POWs, GIs and others as soon as I can, I am sorry I can't do it at the present time. I have obligation to my government and to give them the information that I have first" / WS internees at the presser / SOT Dens about the forced march that he and other detainees and POWs were forced to endure / CU Anders Jensen behind mike / Note: exact story not known
