“Leonardo Opera Omnia” meets art-lovers in Senegal

DAKAR, SENEGAL - JANUARY 21: “Leonardo Opera Omnia" exhibition, which has traveled 15 countries to mark the 500th anniversary of the demise of the renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci since Jan. 2019, opened its doors to art-lovers in Senegal's capital Dakar on Friday, Jan.22, 2021. The exhibition organized by the Embassy of Italy in Dakar and the Italian Cultural Center started to meet art lovers at the Museum of Black Civilizations. The artist's world-famous masterpieces have met with the Senegalese art-lovers with a special lighting and digital painting technique. The exhibition has 17 works of the renaissance intellectual, including copies of Mona Lisa's half-length portrait painting and the Last Supper. Ousseynou Wade, curator of the exhibition in Dakar, said they are delighted to be able to exhibit the works of Da Vinci side by side for the first time thanks to the digital environment although they are in different cities of the world. “We were able to add more detail and clarity to this work exhibited in Milano (the Last Supper) with the lighting system,” he said. The exhibition can be visited until February 28th. (Footage by Fatma Esma Arslan/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
