Faith Kipyegon falls seconds short in 4-minute mile record attempt
PARIS, FRANCE - JUNE 26, 2025: Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon narrowly missed her goal of becoming the first woman to run a mile in under four minutes at Charlety Stadium in Paris on Thursday, June 26, finishing with a time of 4:06.42.
In this event called "Breaking4," Kipyegon managed to break her previous world record by 1.22 seconds. However, the new time will not be officially recognized due to the use of male pacemakers and a technologically enhanced running kit
Despite her failed attempt, Kipyegon remained optimistic after the race. "And I'm still there to try. You know, I've seen it's possible. And one day, one time, it will just come my way," she said.
"I think I've shown other women out there that we have to push ourselves to what we dream of," Kipyegon said, sharing a message to the women around the world.
