Liz Phair on Becoming a More Relaxed Performer
Liz Phair: Just doing it and doing it. Also having my son relaxed me, once I became a mother I realized everything’s not about me. These people coming to see the show really just want to see a good show and the like Liz Phair’s music, and they just want you to put on a good show, they’re not like desperately scrutinizing. That sense that I had, that everything I did meant something, or people took it a certain way, that just vanished when I had my son. People are out there with itchy toes, standing on one heel, wondering if their boyfriend is gonna show up, I mean there’s a lot of stuff going on and it’s up to me to create a song, to bring a song alive. It’s not just about me, it’s pretty cool.
