French Supporters Call For Release Of Anti-whaling Campaigner Being Held In Greenland
PARIS, FRANCE - SEPTEMBER 4: (L-R) Journalist and Founder of Vakita Hugo Clement, Shaka Ponk members Sofia Samaha Achoun a.k.a. Sam and Francois Charon a.k.a. Frah speak onstage during an event calling for the release of anti-whaling campaigner Paul Waston at Place de la Republique on September 4, 2024 in Paris, France. 76-year-old anti-whaling campaigner Paul Watson is being detained in prison in Nuuk, Greenland while his extradition to Tokyo to face charges of damaging a Japanese whaling ship and injuring a crew member in 2010, is decided. The Canadian activist was arrested based on a 2012 Interpol arrest warrant issued by Japan. He says the country has a vendetta against him and says he aims to see the end of whaling in his lifetime.
