Joseph Engelberger, robotics expert, speaking in 1979 on Orwell's '1984' novel and the possibility of robots and artificial intelligence taking over humanity. "The one thing [sic] fascinates me because of my field, and there's no prediction of robots in '1984' and it becomes very obvious, if you read it again, why there aren't any robots... because the people have become automatons and there's no need for robots; they've created automatons. So then I give the great hope to everyone that if this industry prospers as it should be and we create all these robots that will be the leading edge of breaking through on Orwell's 1984 so it will never happen."
