Israeli attacks on Gaza protested during Nobel Banquet in Sweden
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - DEC. 10, 2024: Israel's ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip were protested on Tuesday (Dec. 9) during the Nobel Banquet held in Swedish capital Stockholm.
Demonstrators gathered in front of Stockholm City Hall, where the Nobel Banquet was hosted by Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf -- an annual gathering held on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death.
Carrying banners outside the City Hall, the protesters shouted: Stop genocide in Gaza.
Some banners and signs read: "Stop terror against Palestinians, stop arming Israel", "Stop genocide in Gaza", "End the occupation" and "Nobel Prize ceremony cannot be held while children are being killed".
Arguing that the Nobel Prizes are funded by the U.S., protesters voiced criticism against the U.S. and Sweden over their support for Israel.
Israel has launched a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed nearly 44,800 people, mostly women and children, since an Oct. 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last month for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense chief Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
