RAMALLAH, PALESTINE - JULY 02: "Israel has been keeping my sick and needy 17-year-old son in prison for 6 months without charge," said a Palestinian father on Friday, July 2. Israeli forces detained Amal Urabi, a Palestinian teenager living in the Jalazone Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank, on January 21. A 6-month "administrative detention" decision was issued for the Palestinian teenager. However, after some efforts of human rights defenders, this period was reduced to four months. But, Israel extended the detention period of Amal Urabi for another 4 months in May without making any accusations. Amal, who has a chronic neuromuscular disease that causes various degrees of weakening of the skeletal muscles in his body, is a teenager in need of constant care and treatment. That's why Amal's family is worried about their son's health and life. "Amal is an underage, he's just a kid. My son cannot live in Israeli prisons. Our sick son needs special care and treatment," said Muammer Urabi, the father of Amal. The grieving father, who wants his son to be released as soon as possible, said: "I can't understand Israel's tragicomic claims about Amal. What danger does Amal pose to Israel, one of the most militarily powerful countries?" The Urabi family has not been able to visit their son since Amal's arrest.
