International Sand Sculpture Festival opens its door with space theme
ANTALYA, TURKIYE - APRIL 25: International Sand Sculpture Festival, which will be held for the 17th time this year in Turkiye's southern province Antalya, opens its door with the space theme.
The festival team aims to break a record by processing the theme on 50 meters of sand in one day.
The festival, in which domestic and local tourists show great interest, will be held at Lara Beach.
25 sand sculptors work to build sand sculptures of "Yuri Gagarin", "Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrong", "Hubble Space Telescope" and "Colonization on Mars" with 10,000 tonnes of sands as part of the event.
Visitors will be able to see sculptures inspired by cult films such as "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" with space themes.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency festival director Cem Karaca said the theme of the exhibition will be the reflection of mankind's efforts to reach space.
Karaca stressed that they will try breaking the record by using 1.000 tonnes sand on a 50-meters place in a day.
