VOICED: In New York there had been hopes that the spread of the virus might be starting to slow. But today deaths reached a new high in the state that is the epicentre of the outbreak in America. There are now more than 383,000 cases across the U.S. The surge in infections has made the U.S. the hardest hit nation in the world. 5,489 people have died in New York State - a rise of 731 deaths - the highest increase in a single day. New Jersey, Michigan and California are also some of the worst affected states. New York City is at the epicentre of the outbreak with more than 3 thousand deaths... along with neighbouring Long Island. From there, our US correspondent Cordelia Lynch reports.
