Trump criticizes DeSantis despite leading Biden in recent poll
WASHINGTON DC, US - MAY 25: In light of a recent poll placing both Former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ahead of President Joe Biden for the 2024 presidential race, Trump has granted an exclusive interview at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC. Conducted on May 25, the conversation saw the former president offer his candid thoughts on various topics, including his views on DeSantis.
The Marquette University Law School poll, released last Thursday, had Trump and DeSantis receiving more support than Biden, with Trump receiving 52% and DeSantis 52% of the votes, compared to Biden's 47% and 48%, respectively. However, despite the indication of strong Republican support in the presidential race, the dynamics between the two leading candidates seem to be somewhat tense.
Trump, in his conversation, expressed disappointment in DeSantis, whom he had previously endorsed. While acknowledging DeSantis' rise in the polls – which he credits to his own support – Trump criticized the Florida Governor for what he perceives as disloyalty.
