In a town, crowds of civilians are shown marching in the streets. Followed by Austrian chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg delivering a speech to parliament days before the Anschluss. A giant Austrian flag with the Cross Potent symbol on top of it. Later, the 8th Army of the German Wehrmacht soldiers are seen crossing the border into Austria during the Anschluss. Austria, 1938.
Kurt Alois Josef Johann von Schuschnigg was an Austrian politician who was the Chancellor of the Federal State of Austria from the 1934 assassination of his predecessor Engelbert Dollfuss until the 1938 Anschluss with Nazi Germany.
The Anschluss, also known as the Anschluß Österreichs, was the annexation of the Federal State of Austria into the German Reich on 13 March 1938. The idea of an Anschluss arose after the 1871 unification of Germany excluded Austria and the German Austrians from the Prussian-dominated German Empire.
