Thousands rally in Dutch city of Utrecht in solidarity with Gaza

UTRECHT, THE NETHERLANDS - OCTOBER 19: In a powerful display of solidarity with the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, thousands of people converged in the Dutch city of Utrecht to participate in a peaceful march on Thursday evening (Oct. 19).The event, organized under the banner "Together for Gaza," brought together a diverse crowd that assembled at Dom Square in the early evening and later made their way to Jaarbeurs Square near Utrecht Central Station, reaching the destination around 9:30 pm.Organizers estimated the number of participants at around 8,000, while a police spokesperson reported 7,000 demonstrators. As a precaution, a significant police presence, including riot police, was deployed along the route, but their intervention was minimal. Apart from some loud fireworks and isolated demonstrators moving away from a bus shelter, the march remained peaceful.The police made two arrests, one for the possession of fireworks and another for public drunkenness.Earlier in the evening at Dom Square, a sizeable crowd gathered to hear speeches, where Palestinian, Turkish, and Moroccan flags were prominently displayed. An Arabic white flag bearing the Islamic declaration of faith was also seen and examined by the police and public prosecutor, who deemed it "not punishable."
