Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez says that this is a new era, the Trump era, referring to remarks of Attorney General Jeff Sessions trying to paint immigrants as criminals, rapists, gang members and cartel henchmen. Gutierrez discusses policies of the Department of Justice under Sessions, federal data on criminal prosecutions as thinking it will not look so ugly when the government reports moms and dads who raised successful families or deporting children who grew up in the country. Gutierrez says it does not matter when immigrants received visas, saying millions of Americans will take to the streets in the next week to protest against mass deportation, a wall along the southern border, prison beds and drive-by deportation, that the United States is not an incarceration nation hostile to other countries and their people. Gutierrez contrasts what he calls poetry of the Attorney General with the statue of liberty, quoting that motto.
